Landhawk Consulting LLC is seeking several Wildlife Biologists and Environmental Scientists to join our growing environmental and natural resources team at our El Paso, Texas office. Established in 2012, Landhawk is a multidisciplinary consulting firm of 30 professionals with expertise in natural resources, cultural resources, and water resource management. Our team includes biologists, archaeologists, environmental scientists, aquatic ecologists, and permitting specialists supporting infrastructure and compliance projects across Texas and the greater Southwest.
The successful candidate will serve as a Natural Resource Monitor, assisting with field investigations, environmental monitoring, and compliance reporting throughout the West Texas border region. Work will include biological monitoring, migratory bird nest surveys, vegetation and habitat assessments, BMP observations, and general environmental compliance inspections consistent with SWPPP standards and project-specific environmental requirements.

Familiarity with the flora and fauna of West Texas, including threatened and endangered species, is highly desirable.

Candidates with some experience in the following are encouraged to apply:
- Conducting biological and vegetative field surveys, habitat assessments, and wildlife monitoring.
- Performing environmental compliance monitoring, including BMP and SWPPP-related observations.
- Conducting migratory bird nesting surveys and identifying active nests under the MBTA.
- Preparing detailed field reports summarizing observations, compliance actions, and conditions.
- Assisting with data collection for habitat restoration, vegetation management, or native plant salvage.
- Supporting environmental training and awareness briefings for field personnel.
Familiarity with the following is preferred:
- Flora and fauna of West Texas, including threatened, endangered, and special-status species.
- Federal and state environmental regulations, including MBTA, ESA, and TPWD coordination.
- Habitat types and ecoregions of the West Texas borderlands.
- Field techniques for environmental monitoring, GPS/GIS data collection, and habitat mapping.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary environmental teams on compliance and monitoring projects.
Skills and Requirements:
- Excellent writing and proofreading abilities for producing accurate environmental reports.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team setting.
- Ability to work independently, remotely, and in field environments.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record.
- Access to a computer and high-speed internet for data entry and reporting.
- Flexibility to work extended hours (8–14-hour days), overtime, and weekends.
- Comfort working outdoors for long periods in variable West Texas conditions.
- Familiarity with Texas endangered, threatened, and special-status species.
- Additional experience in vegetation restoration, SWPPP/BMP inspections, native plant salvage, or wildlife relocation is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Training will be provided for project-specific environmental and natural resource monitoring, protocol-level surveys, GIS data collection, and reporting.

This position offers the opportunity for seasonal–temporary full-time employment with potential to transition to permanent full-time based on performance and project demand.
Duties include:
- Conducting field surveys, wildlife observations, and habitat assessments.
- Performing environmental and construction compliance monitoring.
- Documenting BMP and SWPPP observations and corrective actions.
- Conducting MBTA nest surveys and coordinating avoidance buffers.
- Recording vegetation, wildlife, and environmental conditions.
- Maintaining field notes and daily or weekly summaries.
- Supporting report preparation and field data management.
- Following safety and environmental compliance protocols.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in biology, environmental science, ecology, wildlife management, or a related field preferred.
- Applicants with experience in botany, range science, environmental compliance, water resources, or habitat restoration are encouraged to apply.
- Relevant field experience may substitute for specific academic focus where practical field skills and regional knowledge are demonstrated.
Compensation and Benefits:
