ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR, WEST- Position #K0244836

This permanent, full-time position is in the Public Affairs Section of the Kansas Department of Wildlife of Parks. The primary duty location for the Engagement Coordinator - West position is the Pratt Operations Office in Pratt, KS, Hays, KS or Colby, KS; alternate locations in western Kansas may be considered for the right candidate. 

The incumbent will coordinate engagement efforts across all KDWP divisions for regions 1 and 4 (western Kansas), working in close collaboration with the Engagement Coordinator – East. Responsibilities include assessing and analyzing existing and potential engagement activities and audiences in your regions; making suggestions for improved or new engagement activities aligned with the strategic goals of all divisions; and providing guidance to ensure engagement goals are included in divisional plans.

Key Responsibilities:
·         Convene and facilitate an engagement community of practice for KDWP staff in your regions focused on collaboration and training; build and maintain positive relationships with KDWP staff across all divisions. 
·         Attend monthly regional supervisor meetings for Regions 1 and 4.
·         Develop and implement a tracking protocol for engagement events and associated performance measures. 
·         Work closely with marketing and communications staff in Public Affairs to promote engagement programs and elevate compelling engagement stories. 
·         Moderate assigned social media accounts to ensure consistent on-brand posting and social community engagement in accordance with Public Affairs procedures and messaging guidance.
·         Provide logistical support for key outdoor skills, hunter education, and other engagement events that reach large and/or priority audiences such as the Kansas State Fair.
·         Special projects as assigned.

This permanent, full-time unclassified position is located in the Public Lands Division, Region 3, and is directly supervised by Jason Deal, Public Lands Regional Supervisor.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·          This position is a professional management position in wildlife conservation and management for Woodson Wildlife Area, Woodson State Fishing Lake, Wilson State Fishing Lake and Otter Creek Wildlife Area at John Redmond Reservoir. 
·          The primary duty station for this position will be Woodson Wildlife Area office
·          Daily activities consist of developing and maintaining wildlife habitat and outdoor recreation facilities and providing public safety and assistance on assigned property. 
·          Responsibilities include; budget preparation and expenditure tracking; preparing documents, reports, and management plans. 
·          Assists other divisions and various state and federal agencies with environmental issues. 
·          Purchases supplies and equipment. 
·          Participates, directs and supervises land and habitat management work. 
·          Administers agricultural leases. 
·          Supervises and participates in the construction, maintenance and repair of area buildings, equipment, and roads.

Necessary Special Requirements: 
·         The employee is required to be certified as a law enforcement officer by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission. The employee must complete a basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission and annual training as required by K.S.A. 74-5607a.

This classified, permanent full-time position is located at El Dorado State Park, Parks Division; and is directly supervised by Shon Pinard, State Park Manager Supervisor II.  
 
Key Responsibilities:
·         Administers and participates in law enforcement activities in assigned state park areas.

This position oversees all aspects and functions of the department’s outdoor automated licensing system for the agency. The outdoor licensing system is used statewide by all agency vendors in which all KDWP hunting and fishing license and permits, boat registration and boat renewals are sold. 
 
Key Responsibilities
·         Project Manager for third party licensing vendors: develop and approve design documents; test the system software and provide technical direction on software; maintain documentation for system business rules; build and maintain tables for database development and front-end users. 
·         Plan, organize, and direct functions of the Licensing Section, including all necessary supervision and annual performance reviews of 4 full-time employees administering each program of the licensing section. 
·         Research and prepare reports dealing with revenues, audits, statutory and regulatory compliance and fiscal impacts. 
·         Program administration: administering the boating section in issuing boat registrations and renewals; administering the issuance of hunt/fish licenses, limited draw and over-the-counter big game/turkey permits; specialized licenses including Lifetime, Institutional Fish, Group Fish, Disabled Veteran’s, American Indian, National Guard, and Fur Dealers. 
·         Oversee and supervise staff for the front desk reception area that provide service to walk-in customers and all phone calls coming through the switchboard system.

Minimum Requirements:

Description
Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary is currently interviewing for a six-month animal keeper internship position (immediate hire!). Safe Haven provides lifelong care to surrendered and confiscated exotics including
tigers, African lions, bears, mountain lions, and small wild felids including bobcats, caracals,
African servals and native Nevada wildlife.  Most recently, Safe Haven has been working with both the
Cheetah and Snow Leopard Foundations, providing homes for those “retired” from the Species Survival
Plans.  Interns will gain extensive experience and skills necessary to pursue paid animal care positions. 
Safe Haven is accredited by GFAS, the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, meeting over 500
animal care recommendations.
Responsibilities:
Provide daily animal husbandry, medications, species-specific diets, and supplementations.
Daily animal feedings.
Habitat and den cleaning.
Assists in safe capture procedures.
Participates in emergency training and evacuation drills.
Provide animal enrichment.
Provide informal educational tours to the public.
Assist with landscaping and habitat/platform maintenance
Assists in lifting and positioning sedated animals during on-site veterinary exams.
Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older.
Prefer students working toward a degree in animal science, zoology, biology, and environmental sciences.
Self-motivated and hard-working.
Professional attitude and ability to work with other interns and staff.
Must be comfortable with interacting with the public.
Able to lift at 50 pounds and work in inclement weather.
Must adhere to safety protocols and no-contact policy.
Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license.
