Description
Job Description:
The intern will primarily be responsible for maintaining the Martha Elizabeth Moore Gardens, which are located on a historic Civil War-Era site. Responsibilities include watering, weeding, mulching, pruning, planting, and scouting for diseases and insects, among other maintenance tasks. Savanna Springs is an environmental consulting and construction company, typically focused on river/wetland restoration and native plant revegetation. The intern may have opportunities to help us with native plant nursery tasks and native plant reestablishment. The opportunity for a permanent position could be available to the intern upon the conclusion of the internship.
Qualifications:
· Experience with plants and gardening
· Knowledge of plant growth and maintenance needs
· Willingness and ability to work in unfavorable temperatures
Preferred Experience:
· Knowledge of plant diseases and insects
· Ability to diagnose and remedy plant issues
· Interest in sustainable gardening and landscape practices
· Vegetable crop knowledge
· Interest in native plant gardening and re-establishment
