The selected candidates will also be responsible for data entry and reporting, as well as acting as a liaison between diagnostic laboratories, property owners, and research staff.  The intern will train with a wildlife veterinarian, wildlife ecologist, and graduate research assistants. Once the requisite skills have been acquired, the intern will travel to farms throughout Florida to conduct necropsies and collect specimens independently. This internship is ideal for prospective veterinary students or graduate students in wildlife or animal sciences who are taking a year off between their baccalaureate degree and graduate or professional school.

·      Willingness to spend long hours on the road and in rural areas, an upwards of 5 days a week during peak season
·      Willingness to relocate to field facilities outside of Gainesville, with stays of up to a week.
·      Experience with sterile and aseptic lab techniques
·      Confidence in maintaining confidentiality amongst clientele
·      Ability to coordinate and communicate with private facility owners, as well as laboratory staff
·      Attention to detail, with emphasis on outstanding organizational skills
·      Strong work ethic and eagerness to perform tasks
·      Flexible schedule and willingness to be on call weekends and after normal business hours

Requirements: Interns should have strong communication skills, both in person and over the phone, and maintain a professional attitude in challenging field conditions.
