Description
-If you are looking for a hands on experience taking care of elk and whitetails, this is a great opportunity for you! We are excited to be offering multiple intern positions for this summer working with our herds in Kentucky.

-The candidate will learn how to assess and treat sick and injured whitetail deer in our 30-acre breeding operation. The job is daily checks on the deer in the facility (300+), use of dart gun and tranquilizing methods. You will be expected to work closely with staff to quickly identify and treat deer in all types of weather. You will give numerous medications orally, intramuscularly, and subcutaneously. Experience with wildlife or livestock is a bonus.
-Will be unsupervised after training period
-Will use chemical immobilization and physical restraint with animals
Qualifications
-Ability to learn to use binoculars as a tool for health checks of animals at a distance.
-Working towards or recent graduate of wildlife related or animal science degree programs.
-Willing to learn to give injections to animals.
-Ability to move 50+ pound animals.
-Willingness to learn and adapt to our treatment protocols.
-Must be available from start date until end date.
-Able to learn dose calculations quickly and accurately.
-Proficient/organized at record keeping.
-Able to be hands on with animals, disease, and infections.
