Description
Wildcat Creek Wildlife Center is a wildlife hospital and rehabilitation facility located in Delphi Indiana. Annually we admit nearly 2000 wildlife patients of all native and migratory wildlife species.
We offer volunteer full and part-time internships year-round. Housing is available for full-time interns at the center.
Interns work with over 100 different species! Our patients include all native mammal, reptile, and amphibian species as well as all native and migratory avian species.
New skills learned will include several different types of feeding techniques, including tube, syringe, hand, and bottle feeding. Preparing species specific formulas and diets, enrichment, animal, restraint techniques, recordkeeping, and hospital hygiene will also be part of your training.
Our medical team will provide you with the opportunity to read radiographs, observe, surgeries, and be involved in post operative care. You will also be involved with diagnostics and vaccine procedures.
Full-time interns work five 10-12 hour days per week with two non-consecutive days off each week. Part-time interns work 30 hours per week. Interns work in a fast paced, multitasking environment. Work can be physically demanding and stressful at times. Minimum time commitment is 10 weeks, longer time commitments are available.
To apply send résumé and cover letter to Denise Hays, Facility Director. Email: dlhays59@hotmail.com
Be sure to include approximate start dates and length of commitment. Check out our website and Facebook page to learn more about the center. Looking forward to hearing from you!
