Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented GIS & Environmental Data Intern to support our environmental research and sustainability initiatives through geospatial analysis and data management. This position is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), environmental data analysis, and mapping technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, process, and analyze environmental data using GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing tools.
- Assist in creating spatial datasets, maps, and visualizations to support environmental assessments.
- Conduct geospatial analysis to identify trends in air quality, water resources, land use, and other environmental factors.
- Support environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance projects by providing GIS-based insights.
- Integrate various datasets (satellite imagery, field data, government reports) into GIS platforms.
- Automate data processing tasks using Python, R, or SQL for geospatial applications.
- Prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations to communicate findings with stakeholders.
- Stay updated on emerging GIS technologies and environmental data analysis trends.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Environmental Science, GIS, Geography, Data Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data analysis techniques.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability, and conservation principles.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to translate data into actionable insights.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
