Description
 
We are seeking a full-time Wildlife Biologist to be based out of Missoula, Montana (when not in the field). The primary role of this position is to help manage and run Raptor View Research Institute’s various research projects, including our studies on Golden Eagle migration, eagle lead toxicology, America Goshawk conservation, Turkey Vulture ecology, and Osprey ecotoxicology.

Responsibilities:

·         Primary duties include hiring, training, and managing field crews.
·         Designing field protocols, conducting, and supervising field work.
·         Data management, analysis, and preparing manuscripts for peer-review publications.
·         Coordinating with visitors and volunteers.
·         Designing, scheduling, and assisting with educational outreach.
·         Take a leadership role in grant writing, proposals and report preparation.

This position is roughly 50% field and 50% office, with the majority of field time concentrated in the late summer and autumn. Expect an average of 40 hours of work per week, with potentially longer weeks in the field and shorter weeks in the office.

Qualifications:

·         Graduate degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or related field.
·         At least two years of field experience in wildlife biology, preferably with raptors or other birds. Experience managing field crews preferred.
·         Experience in data management and statistical analysis, preferably with telemetry-based movement datasets. Proficiency in a statistical programming language (such as R) required.
·         Experience in grant preferred. 
.         Experience in writing and publishing manuscripts preferred. 
·         A valid US driver’s license.
