Description
About Us
Sky Senderos is the largest provider of thermal drone wildlife surveys in Texas. We help Texas landowners collect more accurate, actionable data on their wildlife populations. Our thermal drone surveys enable property owners and lease members to inform wildlife management efforts, monitor population trends, meet TPWD MLD program requirements, and save money on their property taxes by qualifying for wildlife exemptions.
Position Overview
In this role, you will travel to properties across the state of Texas and fly our advanced thermal drones to conduct wildlife surveys, providing landowners with counts broken out by species, gender, and age. We are seeking an individual experienced with Texas ranches, and the large animals, both native and exotic, that can be found on them. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a passion for wildlife management, and the flexibility to travel and often work during nighttime hours. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with Texas landowners, deepen your wildlife management expertise, and utilize cutting-edge technology in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Fly thermal drones following pre-planned flight routes to capture aerial data for wildlife population counts
- Accurately differentiate and log each large animal species observed during surveys (e.g., pigs, deer, coyotes, antelope, sheep)
- Ensure drones and thermal imaging equipment are in optimal working condition, conducting routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting as needed
- Work closely with landowners, ranch managers, and wildlife biologists to understand specific survey goals and provide tailored solutions
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in wildlife management or a related field
- In-depth knowledge and experience with native and exotic Texas game species, as well as pigs and predators
- Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot License (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with landowners professionally and positively represent the company
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and travel across the state as needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Own a reliable vehicle with high clearance capable of navigating rugged ranch roads
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed
Pay:
- $50/hour while onsite and operating the drone
- $0.25/mile for travel to and from survey locations
- Company-provided card for expenses related to gas, food, and lodging during travel
