Description
The Alaska Fellows Program (AFP) is a fall-to-spring residential fellowship designed to develop Alaska’s next generation of leaders while strengthening local organizations. By pairing talented young professionals with nonprofits and public-sector partners, AFP helps build organizational capacity while providing fellows with hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development.
AFP serves as a pipeline for emerging talent, bringing new professionals to Alaska while also offering opportunities for homegrown Alaskans to launch their careers within the state. Throughout the fellowship, AFP supports fellows as they transition from academic environments to professional roles, assisting them in building social connections and establishing a strong sense of community in their host cities.
Fellows work with high-impact nonprofits and public-sector organizations, contributing directly to projects that improve the lives of Alaskans. At the same time, they gain mentorship, training, and networking opportunities that help them grow as professionals and develop long-term commitments to Alaska. Fellows also engage in community service, local events, and collaborative initiatives, helping to strengthen the social fabric of the communities they serve.
Housing, transportation, and a living stipend are provided.
