Research Technician Position
 
We seek one or two motivated individuals to assist with crayfish ecology and conservation projects in Arkansas and Missouri. The projects aim to understand the distribution and abundance of native crayfish species using traps in the Eleven Point, Spring River, and Strawberry River Drainages of AR/MO. The selected individuals will gain field experience with freshwater crayfish identification, research techniques, and abiotic stream monitoring. The individuals may also be involved in data organization and analysis.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
One or two full time technician positions are available.  Start date is May 10, 2025 (flexible) and end date is August 16, 2025 (flexible). The technician will be paid an hourly rate of $11.00 for up to 40 hours per week. 
 
DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license, and have a place to stay in or near Fayetteville, Arkansas. The technician will perform duties including field sampling, maintenance and operation of field equipment, data collection, computer input, and analysis and writing (dependent on ability). Preference will be given to candidates with a BS in ecology, conservation biology, fisheries, or a related field. Applicants should have a willingness and ability to perform field work, good note taking skills, and a positive attitude. This position will require individuals to work outside for long hours in a group environment. Candidates must be willing to travel for field sampling, potentially for up to three nights at a time. Candidates must work well in a team setting and be okay with getting dirty/wet and actively being in river environments (i.e., swimming/wading) and ideally should have some experience kayaking or canoeing.
