Description
Coastal Wilds is seeking a passionate and dedicated Animal Keeper to join our team with a focus on hand-raising and caring for baby animals. This unique role offers the rewarding experience of helping raise some of our most beloved species and fostering connections with the public through educational encounters.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide round-the-clock care for neonates, including hand-feeding, socialization, and early training
  • Maintain clean and safe habitats through daily cleaning, sanitizing, and enrichment
  • Develop and implement positive reinforcement training techniques
  • Participate in guest encounters, including ambassador presentations and private animal experiences
  • Keep detailed records of animal health, behavior, and development
  • Work closely with veterinary and leadership staff on animal care planning

Species You’ll Work With:

  • Various birds (including parrots, raptors, and waterfowl)
  • Asian small-clawed otters
  • Capybaras
  • Occasional assistance with other ambassador animals as needed

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in animal care or zookeeping preferred; exotic mammal or avian neonate experience a plus
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as needed for baby animal care
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and team-oriented attitude
  • Excellent communication skills with both team members and guests
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions
