Position Details
Insignia is seeking experienced Lead Environmental Inspectors, Environmental Inspectors, and Biological Monitors for immediate openings to support construction monitoring in the Las Vegas area. Positions are full time and may require 10- to 12-hour days, up to 6 days per week. Assignments are expected to last 6 months or longer, with a minimum 2-week commitment. Long-term opportunities and flexible scheduling are available. Fielding efforts are anticipated to begin in mid- to late May.
 
Job Description
  • Inspect construction activities for compliance with environmental mitigation measures, permit conditions, and other environmental requirements
  • Coordinate with construction contractors, project managers, and resource specialists as needed to address resource and compliance issues
  • Prepare daily reports, inclusive of photographs documenting compliance and/or compliance issues
  • Deliver crew-level environmental trainings
  • Monitor for the presence of and potential impacts to sensitive species
  • Facilitate conflict resolution

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in biology, ecology, natural resources, or a related science
  • At least 2 years of experience conducting environmental compliance monitoring on utility infrastructure projects
  • One year or more of demonstrated experience with sensitive species (e.g., desert tortoise) preferred
  • Prior approval to monitor for and/or handle desert tortoise is preferred, but not required; candidates with this qualification will be given priority consideration
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as confidence in dealing with clients, regulators, and team members
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated
  • Rigorously detail-oriented and committed to accuracy

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Willingness and ability to travel when needed
  • Willingness and ability to work fluctuating and/or long hours as necessary
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to walk and hike through varying degrees of difficult terrain while prioritizing safety
  • Ability and willingness to perform job responsibilities in inclement weather conditions
 
Benefits and Compensation
  • The hourly rate range for this position is $36.00 to $50.00 per hour, depending on experience.
  • The daily per diem rate for this assignment is $200.00.
