Description
Come join the team at Nemours Wildlife Foundation as an Environmental Educator Intern. This is an exciting internship open to recent college graduates interested in gaining hands-on experience in environmental education and conservation science. 

The responsibilities of the Environmental Educator Intern will be wide-ranging and help prepare the selected candidate for a future in conservation education. Assigned duties may include: 
  • Assist the Education and Outreach Coordinator with on-site environmental education lessons and field trips. 
  • Develop and present programs for community groups (e.g., nature walks, auto tours, and environmental education programs) 
  • Work on special interpretive projects (e.g., brochures, news articles, exhibits, signs, website content, producing short videos about Nemours and its habitats/wildlife/plants etc.) 
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting special events on-site. 
  • Develop content for Nemours social media accounts: Facebook and Instagram. 
  • Conduct outreach at local events to promote Nemours off-site and within the greater community. 
  • Assist with other projects as needed including general maintenance, biological monitoring, or habitat management. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Interested applicants must be recent college graduates (< 5 years post-graduation) in the field of science or education and possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Physically able to perform duties outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions. 
  • Work independently as well as on a small team. 
  • Represent Nemours in a professional manner. 
  • Work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and evenings. 
  • Basic knowledge of the natural history of coastal South Carolina is desirable. 

A BIT ABOUT US: Nemours Wildlife Foundation is a non-profit organization established by the late Eugene DuPont III and his family in 1995. Situated within the Ashepoo, Combahee, and Edisto (ACE) River Basin, the Foundation’s nearly 10,000-acre property contains a rich diversity of habitats including remnant rice fields, fresh and brackish water marshes, upland pine and hardwood forests, bottomland hardwoods, and cypress/tupelo forests. This incredibly diverse natural landscape provides unmatched opportunities for conducting scientific research and numerous educational programs. 

INTERNSHIP DURATION: August 2025 to June 2026 (exact dates flexible) 

TIME COMMITMENT: This is a full-time position (~40 hours/week). A typical work week is Monday through Friday for eight hours a day. Some weekend work may be required. 

COMPENSATION: $500 weekly stipend and housing provided in a shared dorm facility
