Job Summary:
Three Sisters Oyster Co is an oyster nursery that provides seed to not only its own farm but also other farms along the Texas coast. The nursery is in Olivia, TX near the mouth of Keller Creek. We strive to produce the best product, at the best price.
Our nursery uses bottles, down welling, upwelling, and flupsy systems to help grow the seed. Care and skill are needed to maximize seed growth and survival. Full-time and part-time staff positions will be used to operate the nursery at the highest standard.
The nursery jobs will require physical labor and journeyman-level mechanical/technical work on equipment.
Additionally, to ensure farm credits are captured, regulatory requirements are followed, and animal husbandry best practices are used (setting the growth timelines to sell), knowledge of computer systems and business management is required.
Job duties include but are not limited to:

- Working with the owner to set up nursery protocols and best practices
- Working with the owner to establish monthly activity forecasts including labor, equipment maintenance, oyster care, and harvest/sales
- Performing general labor outdoors and moving heavy loads including operating boats and other heavy equipment that may require service at the shore base or in the field on short notice
- Managing all aspects of nursery care including seeding, sorting and selling
- Adhering to TPWD regulations to ensure compliance
- Tending oysters in a safe and humane manner, using best practices to care for and grow seed
- Supervising contractors and staff in the nursery
- Performing duties and care of the shore base including upkeep of buildings, marina, docks and housing
- Reporting per regulatory requirements (eg TPWD report)
- Reporting costs to the owner to monitor farm efficiency and manage costs
- Maintaining a safe work site
- Attending oyster events and training
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Applicable University degree and/or job experience
- Hard working & reliable
- Animal husbandry/care
- Water safety and can confidently swim
- Handy with tools, general construction and mechanical skills
