Description
We are looking to hire a qualified wildlife technician to assist a graduate student conducting a study looking into the impacts of epizootic hemorrhagic disease on white-tailed deer. This candidate will a) assist in the deployment and management of camera traps across southeast Indiana, b) work independently to check/manage camera traps as needed and c) manage and analyze large amounts of image data. This project is funded by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and part of a cooperative effort with Michigan State University, Purdue University and Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
This position comes with no health benefits. Housing will be provided.
This position will run from Mid-August 2025 to Mid-February 2026.
Qualifications

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Comfortable engaging with the public (required)
· Ability to work independently in the field (required)
· Camera trap experience (preferred)
· Image tagging experience (preferred)
· Ability to carry heavy equipment over challenging terrain (required)
· Ability to work long or irregular hours outside in relatively rough terrain (required)
· Able to work in buggy, hot, and snowy, cold, otherwise adverse natural environments (required)
· Valid driver’s license and good driving skills (required)
Academic Requirements
Actively working on, or completed, B.S. in Biology or related field with a clear link to Ecology and/or Wildlife Biology (as evidenced by courses taken)
