Description
Description: I am recruiting a PhD student to complete a dissertation focused on mercury contamination and food web dynamics. Recent studies have focused on spiders and other terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates as well as birds.  The student may have the opportunity to conduct fieldwork in Greenland during the summer.  Recent publications/areas of interest can be found on my google scholar page https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=c8IAI24AAAAJ&hl=en

The PhD teaching assistantship includes a full tuition award, a 12-month stipend of $27,000 plus the possibility of an additional stipend/calendar year, and 80% of student health insurance at TCU. The award is renewable for five years, based on satisfactory performance. The work load is no more than 20 hours per week during the 9-month academic year, and students are typically assigned to teach labs in introductory biology courses for majors (BIOL 10523) or non-majors (BIOL 10003).

The department provides $2,000 of travel support per year for graduate students to present their research at a scientific meeting.

Most of my graduate students finish their degree on time, publish their research in a scientific journals and go on to successful careers in the field of ecology and environmental science.
