The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) Imperiled Species Management Section is looking for interns from all majors to bring diverse skills to help wildlife conservation. Students will work on black bear, marine turtle, and manatee projects. If you are looking for a challenging opportunity, we encourage you to apply to join our dynamic team!
You will have the opportunity to gain valuable project management experience in government, public relations or wildlife conservation, as well as public speaking skills. Assigned projects are high varied. In previous semesters, projects have included:
- Designing outreach materials
- Mapping and analyzing data using GIS software
- Reviewing data for Quality Assurance/Quality Control
- Data entry and analysis
- Conducting call surveys
- Participating in community outreach
Eligibility:
- Highly motivated team player
- Written and verbal skills
- Junior, Senior, or graduate student of any major
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Reliable transportation
- Reside in Leon or neighboring county
Details:
- August through December
- 10-20 hours/week, including one evening per week, with additional hours required to assist with weekend outreach events
- Office-based in Tallahassee, FL
- Unpaid
- Course credit (3-6 hours) available to eligible students
