Description
Applicants must be Wisconsin residents or have lived in Wisconsin for at least a year out of the last 5 years. If none of the applicants meet the minimum requirements of the position, the residency requirement will be removed.
 
The Office of Applied Science within the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) seeks to hire a scientist and a technician to join our Large Carnivore Team. Our team has an assortment of exciting projects designed to directly inform wildlife management decisions in the state. The position will be based out of Rhinelander, WI and can begin as early as September. Both positions are 6-month, full-time positions with the intention of extending them pending mutual applicant fit and continued funding. Current projects include:
·             Evaluation of abatement measures to reduce crop damage by bears
·             Analysis of wolf collar data 
·             Estimating bear reproductive parameters: cub survival, litter size, and litter frequency
·             Decision analysis projects, including using value-of-information to inform research projects
