Description

Deseret Ranches is seeking strong, hardworking Students for Wildlife Internships at ranches located in Florida. Internships are offered during fall and spring semesters, as well as during summers. Interns work as a full-time member of the wildlife team.

Responsibilities:


  • Conduct field surveys for a variety of wildlife and assist with population counts and behavioral observations.
  • Participate in habitat restoration projects.
  • Collect biological, ecological and environmental data in the field.
  • Use GIS tools to map habitats, food plots, infrastructure, and track wildlife movements.
  • Enter and analyze data using software such as Excel or GIS. Assist with mowing and planting activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Available for 3–4 month assignments starting in January, May, or August.
  • Basic understanding of wildlife management, ecological systems, and ranch operations.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis (e.g., wildlife surveys, habitat assessments); basic GIS and mapping knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, push/pull/drag up to 200 lbs, and work in leaned or squatted positions.
  • Capable of walking/standing 9–12 hours daily and working outdoors year-round in all weather.
  • Willing to work 45-hour weeks, including weekends and holidays as needed.
