Description
The Marine Protected Area (MPA) program was established to support Inuvialuit Regional
Corporation (IRC) and co-management partners in the management and monitoring of existing
marine protected areas (MPAs) within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR). The MPA program
works closely with the Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Inuvialuit Game Council, the
Fisheries Joint Management Committee, and local Hunters and Trappers Committees to ensure
appropriate and effective management and monitoring of MPAs within the ISR

The MPA Community Liaison works in conjunction with the MPA Coordinator to facilitate the
co-management of existing Oceans Act Marine Protected Areas (MPA) in the Inuvialuit
Settlement Region (ISR) and support MPA management plans and monitoring programs. This
position is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to ensure the
organization meets its obligations and responsibilities to its key stakeholders. 

Qualifications:
• Diploma or certificate in Environment and Natural Resources Technology.
• Degree, diploma or certificate in Office Administration or Business Administration or other
related field of education.
• One to two years related experience in minute taking, proposal writing, organizing
meetings, writing skills, leadership skills, coordination of board materials in a timely
manner.
• Computer skills with MS Office, including excel, ppt, word.
• Will be required to travel from time to time.
