Description
Located on South Bass Island, The Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center provides environmental education for youth
and adults, including residents and tourists, through Center programs, educational outreach activities, printed and digital
content and site improvements. The Education/Outreach Coordinator creates, develops and assists the Directors with Center
programs and activities as necessary.

Reports to:
LEINWC Director
Board of Directors

Qualifications:
1. Experiences in Science Education and in the fields of biology, environmental studies preferred;
2. Ability to interact positively with staff, volunteers, students, educators, visitors and community members;
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Wordpress and social media, office equipment;
4. Capability to work long hours, occasionally physically strenuous, while interacting with a diversity of people of
different ages and backgrounds, in various settings;
5. Experience in coordinating with paid staff and volunteers;
6. Positive attitude, love of nature, diligence, sense of humor and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities:
1. Plan and coordinate 10 weeks of Wild Tuesdays with the LEINWC Director.
2. Plan and coordinate educational events including set-up, implementation and clean up with the LEINWC Director.
3. Schedule and provide tours for groups and visitors that come to the LEINWC; coordinate dates with LEINWC
Director and Island Transportation.
4. Research, develop and present improved, relevant educational programs and resources for schools, adults, families,
community groups and visitors.
5. Help plan and advertise events hosted by the LEINWC May-October with Chamber, local businesses, Miller Boat
Line, Local Media, and through social media. This includes creating and distributing flyers both physically and
digitally.
6. Schedule and deliver talks in schools or to community groups on environmental issues and conservation efforts.
7. Assist in organizing events and activities to raise awareness of environmental issues, including recruiting educators
and organizations to assist with programs
8. Work with colleagues, teachers and community groups on the design and delivery of educational programs.
9. Act as a point of contact for teachers, educators and colleagues, responding to requests for information on
educational issues.
10. Help recruit volunteers for programs and events.
11. Provide training for staff and/or volunteers to assist with programs
12. Other duties as approved by the Board and assigned by the LEINWC Director.

Please note that the coordinator must be on South Bass Island for all programs, remote work is allowed for planning. Housing is NOT provided. Must be willing to commute to the Miller Ferry or Jet Express.
