Description
Two field technicians needed to conduct research on northern bobwhite in Oklahoma from February through December (11 months) in 2026. The research will be conducted at Packsaddle Wildlife Management Area in western Oklahoma. Duties will include trapping and fitting quail with transmitters, telemetry of quail, seed and invertebrate sampling, sorting seed and invertebrate samples, conducting quail surveys, maintaining temperature loggers and sound recorders, field validation of vegetation maps, and data entry. Salary is $14/hour. Work vehicle and housing will be provided.

Technicians must be willing to conduct physically demanding field work in a remote location under variable weather conditions. Willingness to work odd hours and weekends is required. The ability to maintain a positive attitude while working and living in close quarters with other people is crucial. A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are necessary. Applicants should have previous field experience, preferably within avian research. Preference will be given to candidates with previous trapping and bird handling experience. Prior experience operating 4x4 vehicles is also desired. A valid driver’s license is required.
