Description
This, one of a kind, internship, based at the biggest alligator park west of the Mississippi, will give you numerous types of experience, that you won't be able to get anywhere else. You will work alongside and learn from the biggest nuisance alligator catchers in the state of Texas, all while educating the public about American Alligators and the conservation of various other reptiles. By the end of your internship, you will have the skills needed to remove alligators safely and efficiently from a variety of settings. While much of the internship deals with animal care/husbandry & educating the public, interns will be exposed to and expected to participate in various park functions. These include but are not limited to enclosure maintenance, janitorial duties, landscaping, working in retail, construction, customer service, and any other task that is part of how a park runs. Interns will have the opportunity to learn how to safely handle and work with a variety of animals including venomous snakes and several crocodilian species, among others, in situations that range from doing educational shows & events, giving private tours, moving animals within the park, and going on nuisance alligator and snake calls.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess or be currently pursuing a degree in animal biology, wildlife management, herpetology, environmental science, zoology, or any other focus involving animals, conservation, or education. Applicants must be in good physical condition. A valid Drivers' license is required and having your own transportation is preferred.
