Natural Resources Job Board

This position will report directly to the Trails Manager and Trails Assistant Manager.

 

Responsibilities include operating within a gatehouse to sell permits/campsites to visitors, as well as explaining Forest Service rules and regulations to visitors. Trail work and field duties will also be a large portion of assigned responsibilities. Field work will consist of assisting the Assistant Manager/Manager in improving trail conditions, felling and bucking trees, patrolling trails in a Forest Service truck or UTV (If and when the apprentice become certified to operate a UTV/ATV), host annual events for OHV riders, and other recreation projects. It should be known that since we operate a recreation-based facility the apprentice will be working most weekends during their time at Turkey Bay, but will have many opportunities to use request leave when they desire it.

 

Throughout this apprenticeship there will be many opportunities to gain federal certifications for equipment such as Chainsaws, UTV/ATV, Tractor, and Trailer. The apprentice will be given many opportunities to gain as much experience as they would like on desired or assigned tools and equipment.

 

This is a great opportunity for any upcoming graduates or recent graduates to gain experience that would prepare them for a career in recreation/trails. At the end of the apprenticeship the apprentice will receive a Public Land Corp (PLC) certification that I greatly help them in pursuing a future position with the federal government.
