Description
This is an early alert that the U.S. Forest Service Southern Research Station will be filling 2 term technician positions (GS-5) to support the USFS wildlife research program at the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site. The positions will begin work during summer-fall 2024. Primary duties will include but are not limited to: (1) trapping, radio-instrumenting, and tracking white-tailed deer (adults and fawns), wild pigs, and coyotes; (2) conducting vegetation surveys; (3) conducting camera trap surveys, including sorting and processing camera images; (4) data entry; and (5) maintenance of experimental areas. Must be able to work year round, outside for extended periods in both hot and cold environments. Must be capable of carrying 30-50 pounds for extended distances over uneven terrain. Must be able to obtain a government issued driver’s license and operate a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Must be a US citizen to qualify to work inside of a secure DOE facility.
