Assistant Professor of Biology


Young Harris College invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor of Biology position beginning August 1, 2024. The applicant must (or will) possess a Ph.D. in a biological discipline with a concentration in environmental science. The successful applicant must be willing to teach courses in general biology for science majors and non-science majors, introductory environmental science courses and upper-level courses related to their specialty. In particular, someone with expertise in teaching an upper-level research methods class including R and R-studio will be viewed favorably. Although Young Harris College is primarily a teaching institution, the candidate should also have an interest in research and the capability to direct undergraduate students in guided research experiences.


Application Process


Applications should include a two-page cover letter that includes how one’s research interests inform one’s teaching philosophy (or a cover letter with separate statements of research interests and teaching philosophy), a CV, transcripts and contact information for three references. Review of applications will begin March 18, 2024 and continue until the position is filled. Selected candidates must successfully pass a background check.
