Description
Project Description:  Collection of all fish species encountered using various forms of electrofishing including, but not limited to, tote barge, boat, and backpack gears; passive gears may also be required including gill net, fyke net, and hoop net; collection of field measured water quality parameters.  Extended overnight travel (up to 35 consecutive days) is required. All work-related travel costs, including lodging and meals, are covered by MBI. When not on an MBI trip, employees are expected to cover lodging and meal costs on their own.
 
Position Description:  Work as a member of a 3-4 person field crew that collects fish, habitat and water chemistry data in rivers and streams. Responsible for the execution of specific sampling protocols, operate 4WD trucks, data recording, equipment operation, and maintenance tasks under the direction of a qualified crew leader. Must be able to assist in the operating wading and boat mounted electrofishing gear. Ability to identify fish collected to species is preferred. Crews often travel over extended periods including consecutive weekends. Position is seasonal, and employment with MBI is “at will”. 
 
Baseline Skills Required:  
o   Ability to perform supervised fish sampling using various electrofishing methods
o   Ability to maintain a variable work schedule including irregular hours and overnight travel over extended periods, including consecutive weekends.
o   Must be able to work effectively as part of a team on a day to day basis.
o   Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions for extended periods and lift at least 50 pounds. 
 
Preferred Skills: Fish identification, working on or around water, working with small watercraft. 
 
Period of Employment:  May 22 through all or parts of October.
