Tsar nicoulai is hiring one full time fisheries technician to rear white sturgeon for meat and caviar production on a new ras system as well as an established farm with around 500,000 lbs of Housing. We are looking for a person that loves fish and working outdoors. This position is very unique and will require extensive on the job learning so prior experience is not stressed, however we look for individuals that can be coached and quick to diagnose and resolve what issue the fish throws at them. 

60% rearing of fish: feeding, water quality checks, moving and grading, harvesting fish, and hatchery work

10% records keeping mainly water quality parameters 

10% on-site repairs (sturgeon like to break things)

5% broodstock management and spawning

5% alarm response 

5% tours and public interaction

5% if needed helping out with processing of caviar and meat fish

We work outdoors in all types of weather and typically start at 5:30 to avoid working in peak heat. Very common to lift feed bags that weight 40 lbs and salt bags weighing 50 lbs. Farm is large so walking is required a d when sexing fish long periods of standing and bending. 

Housing may be available but weekend and off hour alarms duty are associated with housing.
