 Description: Alliance Consulting, Inc. is looking to hire one (1) bat survey technician for the summer of 2024. The position will last from May 15th through August 15th . The job of the technician will be to assist state and federally permitted bat biologists in conducting presence/absence surveys for federally threatened and endangered bat species. Duties will involve setting up mist nets, removing bats from nets, processing bats, data collection, and radio telemetry. Mist net surveys will be performed mainly in West Virginia and the northeast, however some surveys could be conducted in the Midwest. This job offers a great opportunity to learn proper field sampling techniques involving mist nets. Food and Lodging will be paid when working on projects requiring an overnight stay. This is a paid position offering $12/hour up to 40 hours, and $18/hour for overtime work.

General Qualifications: Applicants for this position should have or be working towards a bachelor’s degree in biology, wildlife and fisheries, natural resources, or environmental science. This position will occasionally require hiking long distances carrying gear weighing up to 50 pounds. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, exceptional communication skills, and be comfortable working long irregular hours in various conditions. Candidates must be able to make a three month commitment (May 15 –August 15) with limited time off. Candidates will also be required to have the rabies pre-exposure vaccine, which they will be reimbursed for by Alliance. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given towards candidates who live in West Virginia and have already received the pre exposure rabies vaccine.
