Description
A paid internship with Houston Wilderness in summer 2024 includes the activities below. Send resume to info@houstonwilderness.org
Intern Responsibilities include:
- Assisting HW team members with projects under HW's Houston Ship Channel TREES Program involving on-site analysis of the large-scale native tree plantings that have taken place between Fall 2020-Spring 2024
- Assisting HW team members with projects under HW's Riverine Target-Use-of-Buyouts Program involving on-site analysis of the large-scale native grass bioswale plantings that took place in Fall 2023 - Spring 2024
- Work with HW staff on on-site analysis of heat temperatures in mini-forests around large concreted area
Qualifications:
- Working toward completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree
- Moderate to intermediate level of experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Interested in environmental issues and enjoys being outdoors in nature
- Outgoing personability who work well with others
- Ability to communicate easily with different types of people
- Willingness to assist staff with priority, time-sensitive assignments
