Description
A Treehouse intern is immersed in every aspect of the operation of a large wildlife rehabilitation and environmental education center. The main focus of the intern is quality animal care on a daily basis. Interns will learn triage examination, supportive care techniques, diet preparation, daily husbandry, continued medical care, formula feeding of infants, and other animal care tasks as needed. At Treehouse the intern will care for any native mammal, reptile, or bird species admitted to the center. The intern will also help in other aspects of the center including enclosure maintenance, handling of education animals, greeting the public, answering finder phone calls, many common cleaning tasks, and general cleanliness of the center. Interns are expected to always represent Treehouse with a professional demeanor.

Qualifications: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and have a GED or high school diploma. Currently enrolled or recent college graduates preferred. Treehouse interns must have a strong work ethic and be self-motivated. It is recommended that applicants have at least 3 months of experience working with animals.

Internship Program: The internship program lasts for a duration of 8 weeks working 40 hours per week. On site housing is offered to interns including all household amenities such as bed/bedding, washer/dryer, stove, microwave, sink, and shower. Most interns work between March-September, but earlier or later start dates may be taken into consideration.

Externship Program: The externship program lasts for a duration of 10 weeks working 10 hours per week. This consists of being at the center for full or partial days twice per week. Externs may be considered for housing if interns have not filled all rooms.
