Wildlife Department
 
Position:  Wildlife Specialist, based in Lueders, TX
 
Supervisor:  Clear Fork Ranch – Ranch Manager
 
Direct Report:  Wildlife Biologist/Manager
 
Position objective:  Under the direction of the Wildlife Biologist/Manager, conduct wildlife
management techniques, research, and outreach as assigned.
 
Salary:  Based on experience; housing and a ranch vehicle included
 
Primary Responsibilities: 
Assist the wildlife department in the following areas:
o   Conducting wildlife surveys of the various game and non-game species on Clear Fork Ranch
o   Data collection as assigned for wildlife on Clear Fork Ranch
o   Intensive supplemental feeding program
o   Maintaining supplemental feed pens 
o   Deer blind placement and maintenance 
o   Corn feeder placement and maintenance
o   Vegetation sampling and monitoring 
o   Scoring and organizing harvest records
o   Population management through hunting
o   Scouting for trophy and management whitetail bucks
o   Guiding hunts for deer, turkey, waterfowl
o   GIS and GPS data collection and mapping development
o   Food plot planting and preparations
o   Fisheries management of ranch ponds
o   Educational workshops and outreach events
o   Wildlife research projects
 Any and all other duties as assigned by wildlife department and ranch administration
 
Qualifications:
·         Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, management, or natural resource related field preferred
·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Clear Fork Ranch     employees, supervisors, and other departments
·         Must be a team player, possess excellent communication skills, and have a passion for natural resource management
·         Ability to successfully perform the primary responsibilities of this position
·         Must have knowledge and understanding of basic computer applications including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and any other related software
·         Operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
·         Ability to accurately solve problems
·         Attention to detail during the planning and implementation phases of various projects
·         Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at any given time
·         Ability to work established work schedule
·         Ability to consider safety in all decisions
·         Must develop and master understanding of ranch organizational responsibilities and abide by all policies
·         Must have the ability to traverse rough terrain and work independently in harsh conditions
·         Must pass a drug test as per Clear Fork Ranch policies
·         Must be able to pass a background check
·         Must possess or be willing to acquire any certificates, licenses or registrations, as deemed necessary for this position, to be in compliance with any and all local, state,            federal or any other type regulatory agency
·         Must have a valid Texas driver’s license in good standing, the ability to be an approved driver for the company, and to safely operate vehicles
