Job Summary:
Broomsedge Rod & Gun is seeking a dedicated and experienced Kennel Manager / Hunting Guide to manage our kennels, care for our hunting dogs, and guide our clients on exceptional upland and waterfowl hunts. The ideal candidate is passionate about dog training, experienced in hunting operations, and possesses strong leadership and customer service skills. This dual-role position offers the opportunity to be a key part of a South Georgia hunting lodge.
Broomsedge Rod & Gun is seeking a dedicated and experienced Kennel Manager / Hunting Guide to manage our kennels, care for our hunting dogs, and guide our clients on exceptional upland and waterfowl hunts. The ideal candidate is passionate about dog training, experienced in hunting operations, and possesses strong leadership and customer service skills. This dual-role position offers the opportunity to be a key part of a South Georgia hunting lodge.
Key Responsibilities:
Kennel Management:
- Oversee the daily care, health, and well-being of all hunting dogs in the kennel.
- Manage feeding schedules, exercise routines, and grooming.
- Monitor and maintain kennel cleanliness and hygiene to the highest standards.
- Administer basic medical care, including vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and minor treatments.
- Coordinate veterinary visits and maintain accurate health and training records for all dogs.
- Train and condition dogs for hunting, emphasizing obedience, pointing, retrieving, and scent work.
- Assist with puppy care as needed.
- Manage kennel inventory and supplies, ensuring all necessary items are stocked.
- Assist in the oversight and execution of all bird pen related endeavors (including, but not limited to, filling feeders and water holding devices, cleaning the pens, and keeping records).
Hunting Guide Responsibilities:
- Lead guided upland and waterfowl hunts for guests, providing an outstanding field experience.
- Work closely with clients to tailor hunts to their skill levels and preferences.
- Handle and showcase well-trained dogs during hunts, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Scout and prepare hunting grounds, managing habitat and setting up blinds or other setups.
- Maintain hunting equipment and vehicles in top working condition.
- Provide clients with expert advice on hunting techniques, firearm safety, and game bird behavior.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience in kennel management and dog training, particularly with hunting breeds.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in upland and/or waterfowl hunting.
- Strong understanding of hunting ethics, conservation practices, and game regulations.
- Ability to work independently and lead a small team when necessary.
- Exceptional communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Physical fitness and stamina, able to work in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate off-road vehicles.
- First Aid/CPR certification is preferred.
- Ability to pass a standard background check.
