Description
This internship revolves around gaining knowledge and hands-on experience with the American Alligator, venomous and non-venomous snakes, a variety of other reptiles, and several other animals. While much of the internship deals with animal care/husbandry and educating the public, interns will be exposed to and expected to participate in various park functions. These include but are not limited to enclosure maintenance, janitorial duties, landscaping, working in retail, construction, customer service, and any other task that is part of how a park runs. Interns will have the opportunity to learn how to safely handle and work with a variety of animals including venomous snakes and several crocodilian species, among others, in situations that range from doing educational shows and events, giving private tours, moving animals within the park, and going on nuisance alligator and snake calls.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess or be currently pursuing a degree in animal biology, wildlife management, herpetology, environmental science, zoology, or any other focus involving animals, conservation, or education. We are primarily an educational facility so applicants must be comfortable with public speaking and will be required to present educational shows and private tours for customers daily. Applicants must be in good physical condition. A valid Drivers' license is required and having your own transportation is preferred. Applicants must be able to intern for a minimum of 3 months to fulfill the internship program.
